Weaver's Words

12/23/06
The bug that is terrorizing Salt Lake City has caught up with me. I bark like a seal, drink lots of fluids, take vitamins and am sleeping a lot in the attempt to defeat it.
At the same time I am trying to finish off a warp of very fine linen (2/70) just a little thicker than the hair on my head. So, because the threads are fine there are over 1200 of them in the warp and the weft (which is finer still) takes many, many picks to make just one inch of cloth. Still, it is handsome and will be better when washed.
Why would I subject myself to such torture? It was a special request from my daughter. That says it all.
Time for more water, more vitamin C and back to the loom.
This, too, shall pass. (And when it does I am putting on a red warp!)
